Does Obama Have Post Bush Derangement Syndrome?

December 9th, 2009 by Dave

Obama seems to have developed a political tic. You could call it BBTS, Blame Bush Tourette Syndrome. You could call it Post-Bush-Derangement-Syndrome. Every time Obama gives a public speech, he seems to blame his predecessors, especially if it looks like he’s blaming Bush, but more often than not, he’s assigning blame to predecessors while the actual people behind decisions he’s criticizing with respect, in particular, to economic policy are people in the administration and government right now, ie. Bernanke for one. While the dems are trying to sneak in the illegal (they’ll just change the law, right?) diversion of TARP funds to a Stimulus II, Obama is busy blaming the “hasty” formulation of TARP one. Wasn’t it the DEMS and the likes of Bernanke that formed that thing and dragged every Republican along for the ride?

Thinking this is just an economic flavored tic? Look at the new rhetoric blaming the prior execution of the Afghanistan war. Obama, again, blamed the prior administration for the current situation. Who was actually in charge of that? Who runs the wars? Isn’t that someone like the incumbent Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates? Wasn’t he running things since 2006? Isn’t he now Obama’s man on the job?

Regarding Obama’s West Point Speech

December 3rd, 2009 by Dave

My son, a Gulf War veteran, recently shared on Facebook:

Just saw the president’s speech in Westpoint… wow! I have never seen someone so loudly take non-responsibility for something… “wasn’t me.” If only we could wait till our soldiers are back before publicly making statements questioning the legitimacy and legality of the war while … you know, they are still fighting

One response: what is he not taking responsibility for exactly?

I was compelled to reply: For one, he’s responsible for campaigning on Afghanistan as “the war we should be focused on” and then dithering for months on end before reaching the foregone conclusion to engage in a half hearted “slurge” but then history is full of examples of feckless leaders who stalled and succeeded. Wait- no it isn’t.

It remains to be seen whether our troops are constrained to adopt a Vietnam style policy of “contain and suppress but don’t win.”

For the Cadets who nodded off during the speech, don’t feel bad – it wasn’t exactly the Gettysburg Address.

“Wait”, Says Obama. What did he say is “unthinkable?”

November 14th, 2009 by Dave

Obama says “wait” one more time. Now he has asked congress to hold up hearings, “until the Army has completed its investigation.” Obama said it was “unthinkable” that a fellow service-member could have pulled the trigger at Ft. Hood.

Really? I agree with him. Of course it’s unthinkable! This was no “fellow service-member” but a known terrorist.
