There are a number of ways to look at classes in society, but for the purpose of this post, I’m going to look at two popular ones in the US.
The entitlement class and the working class- and sometimes the former can be found among the latter.
The entitlement class believes the government should feed, clothe, house and manage from the cradle to the grave.
The working class believes the government should provide national security and a framework in which we can each work to become affluent enough to provide for ourselves and give to others.
The entitlement class elites so believe in government provision from the cradle to the grave that they consistently give far less to charity than the working class. Check Joe Biden’s or Barack Obama’s 2009 tax returns. Both gave less to charity than George Bush. In 2007, before it became evident he would be propelled into a high profile position, Biden gave 0.3% of his income to charity. source: dailycaller.com. In fact Biden averaged $369 per year to charity over ten years.
The entitlement class will vote soon and the working class will have to out-vote them to keep them from robbing the wealth of their labor and that of their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
LOW TAX/HIGH TAX? Just because you buy a fridge with no payments for one year doesn’t mean you’re not paying too much for it. Any money acquired by the government(s) is provided by those who earn it. We pay by: direct tax, fees, property tax, consumption tax, built in price increases to cover cost of tax, decreased benefits, inflation disproportionate to income, etc. We’re paying the cost of everything the government spends. Everything. Or, we’re passing the cost to our kids. When our spending hits 100% or more of GDP we’ll look like something between Japan and Greece.
On Cinco de Mayo, five Morgan Hill high school students came to school in red, white and blue, and got a very public lesson in school politics and free speech. The boys came to Live Oak High School on the Mexican holiday, wearing t-shirts, shorts and shoes emblazoned with American flags.
